You can netbeans from 3 main places

• intergrated with java SDK (http://java.sun.com)
• from the netbeans website (http://www.netbeans.com)
• From your linux repositories (eg using apt-get or YaST)

You must install the java JDK before you install netbeans as it will, errr, not work! Actually it won't even install so that kind of stops you from being silly! The only expection is if you use the intergrated java SE and netbeans bundle.
